First, I would like to thank the citizens for their vote of confidence in electing me to serve you. I will make every effort to assist you with any problems you may have. During this term, I have the privilege of working with the Seniors program and handling other municipal services. The Council of the City of Satsuma is proud to announce that we now have a Senior Citizen bus.
The bus was awarded through an ALDOT 5310 grant. The previous Council worked very hard to obtain this grant.
The bus will be used to provide transportation for senior citizens (60 or older) to medical appointments, group meal locations and trips to other locations as necessary.
The objective of the bus is to enable seniors to remain independent in their own home by providing transportation to handle daily outings.
The City is establishing a program that will utilize the bus on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to transport seniors to medical/dental appointments. The city has established a direct number, 406-1419, for seniors to call to set up their appointments. I am excited to be working with this program, and am pleased that the city will now be able to offer these services to our senior citizens.
