The Council of the City of Satsuma is proud to announce that we now have a Senior Citizen bus.
The bus was awarded through an ALDOT 5310 grant. The previous Council worked very hard to obtain this grant. The bus will be used to provide transportation for senior citizens (60 or older) to medical appointments, group meal locations, and trips to other locations as necessary.
The objective of the bus is to enable seniors to remain independent in their own home by providing transportation to handle daily outings.
The City has established a program that utilizes the bus on Monday through Friday to transport seniors to medical/dental appointments and to and from the grocery and drug stores. Wednesday has been designated as the day for hair or similar appointments, and the first and third Wednesday of the month is the day that the seniors go grocery shopping. Mr. Melvin Robinson is now operating the Senior Citizen Van, and his schedule is very flexible. If you would like to set up an appointment, please contact 675-1440 or 377-9095. I am excited to be working with this program, and am pleased that the city will now be able to offer these services to our senior citizens.
